Never Apologize for Your Art!

When I first sat down and began brainstorming the creation of a website that would present my life and writing to the world, I found the task quite daunting.
I am a very private person, and by nature, find it difficult to open up and reveal myself on any level. But hey - nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?
Realizing that I'm not getting any younger, I felt that there was no better time than the present.

I have always been a rebel when it comes to labeling people, places, and things, and have tried my best over the years not to do so. My philosophy has been to simply let people, places, and things, be whatever they are in their own right. I must confess, despite my most devoted efforts, there still have been times when I, too, have found myself falling victim to the natural human tendency to pigeon hole. After all, believe it or not, I am human.
As much as I despise categorization, in presenting my writing on the website, I felt obligated to provide a modicum of order out of respect for those who may visit the site. People expect it. So, that is that.

I write whenever inspired. Tyically, that is when my creative inner child is wide awake and pesters me until I do so, and during the whole while I am writing! If what I write ends up fitting nicely into a category, I assure you, it never deliberately started out that way. I write on many wide-ranging topics for a widely diversified audience. I adhere to the principle embodied within the official slogan of the City of Key West, Florida, "One Human Family."

As I believe it true we are all a part of one human family, within my website I make no distinction between sexes, genders, races, ethnic origins, sexual orientations, or religious and political affiliations.

And, I never apologize for my art!
