Fictional Love Story Based on True Events

If I were to pen a fictional love story

based on personal love life events,

it would have to be pure fiction, as

my story is bruises, nicks, and dents.

I’ve never experienced a deep, mutual

love with someone loving me back

with lust-filled, unbridled passion,

quenching me in and out of the sack.

Those I tried best to love, used me,

sex was nothing more than tame,

taking, never giving, far from primal,  

each new chapter reading the same.

I always wore my heart on my sleeve.

They cleverly worked it like a tool.

To them, I was a free ride for a season,

their part-time lover, full-time fool.

Yes, if I wrote a fictional love story,

I’d base it solely on fictional events.

My life has little to show for love, but

a bruised heart with nicks and dents.
